Hand-made Teddy Bears
|
Rowan Bears are one-of-a-kind or very small limited editions all entirely handmade. Designs are often inspired by real pets and are made using genuine Steiff Schulte Mohair, antique mohair or Schulte alpaca. Other materials for these cute creations are ultrasuede, cashmere/velvet or woolfelt for paws and ears, and German glass eyes. DMC Perle thread is used for embroidered noses, some of which are then given a wet shiny look with my special technique. Cotter pin joints are used for articulating limbs. All aspects of each creation is done by hand including shading and sculpting. |

| “Tilly” is a limited edition of 5 and entirely hand sewn and designed by me. Made from the finest Steiff Schulte mohair in a light golden blonde. She sits at 16.5cm (6.5in) and is five way cotterpin jointed so that she can have many cute poses. Tilly has German glass eyes, an embroidered nose and his little face is sculptured and hand shaded to give her that cute look. All four paws are made from a cashmere ultrasuede, needle sculptured and shaded to give a realistic appearance and finally she has been weighted with encapsulated steel shot to give her a nice weight. |
A very special Rowan Bear, he is made from genuine antique mohair dating back to 1918, there are quite a few bald patches which add to his character. He is modelled on an early Steiff bear with his long muzzle and limbs and a little hump on his back. The mohair used has a lovely green tinge and so I have given him contrasting bottle green ultrasuede paw pads with claw stitching. This lovely ted measures 14cm (5.5in) and is fully cotter pin jointed. I have given him black glass eyes and an embroidered nose and mouth. He is part filled with steel shot to give him a lovely weight. |
My latest really cute miniature Rowan Bear. He measures just 7cm (2.7in). He is made from German schulte mohair in a lovely light gold which is complemented with dark chocolate wool felt paw pads. He also has claw stitching. I have given him tiny black glass eyes and embroidered his nose and mouth to match the paw pad colour. He is fully cotter pin jointed. A really sweet tiny ted who is part filled with steel shot to give him a lovely weight. As with all my bears he comes with a card swing tag with printed details. |
